Bonsai Desktop (just installed as trial today) crashes immediately when I import a Palm pdb file created by Bonsai Palm version 2.8.1.
I'm trying to get off this ancient Palm device (Zodiac Z2), but I've got huge amounts of precious Bonsai outlines. The aim here is to export to Outliner for Android. (I would have preferred an Android version of Bonsai!)
I don't even have working hotsync. I use a file manager (FileZ) to copy the NO_*.pdb files to an SD card, and read the card on my Windows Desktop.
Would an upgrade to a more recent version of Bonsai Palm solve this problem?
Please help, there is far too much data here to enter manually.
Thanks.

I'm afraid that Bonsai desktop doesn't read .pdb files. You need to use the hotsynch conduit to convert it to a Bonsai xml file.
You can get .pdb converters (try a search for "palm pdb converter"), which _may_ be able to convert your Bonsai .pdb into a .csv, .dbf or .txt file, which you _may_ then be able to import to something like Outliner.
Good luck.

I have v5 of the Bonsai Desktop and Palm. The Desktop will import a Bonsai pdb from the v5 Palm Bonsai backup folder with no issues. And export them. Perhaps the Palm v2.8 pdb files are too old to be read directly. I am just speculating so best to wait until someone from Natara responds.
If correct, upgrading the Bonsai software on your Palm to the latest version should correct the issue. Regardless, make a backup of the existing pdb files first.

Bonsai Desktop should be able to read the older Bonsai Palm format although it was not specifically tested with v2.8. The best bet is to update the Bonsai software on the Palm (let me know if you need an evaluation code if the software reports the trial is expired) and then attempt to import the updated pdb outline file. Be sure to keep a backup copy of your outline just in case. If Bonsai is unable to import the outline created by the latest Bonsai Palm software, you can send your outline (both the original and new outline files) to Natara support and I can take a look and see why it is failing.

Thanks Richard. I upgraded to Bonsai 3.3.5 on the Palm and this converted the pdb files to something that the desktop could import. I'm all sorted now. Bye-bye Palm.
