* you can open the same file in two windows and see its two parts side-by-side (the most obvious scenario is when you have reference information items in one window, while actionable items in another--when both lists are long enough to not fit together into a single column vertically)
* each window can be shown on a separate physical monitor (multi-monitor setup becomes more and more common these days)
* both windows share the same open file, so saving changes from one window doesn't interfere with changes in other window
* cut-n-paste is allowed between that pages
Currently it's technically possible to launch several instances of Bonsai (clicking Bonsai icon quickly several times from QuickLaunch/Desktop will lead to that), but they don't share the same file (i.e. after making changes in the same file in two windows saving them in one lose changes made in another); they don't allow cut-n-paste branches (only text pieces).
Just in case it's not too late to propose for consideration for the major overhaul of desktop app.
