Just joined...
Am looking for a suitable Note taking application for my new HTC HD2 and thought I would try DayNotez for Windows Mobile.

I've downloaded the trial version plus the two SQL Server files.
Installed the two SQL files first followed by DayNotezPPC15.armv4.cab

It's at this stage where DayNotez brings up an 'Exception' error and refuses to load.

Therefore, my question is:- Does DayNotez run with Windows Mobile 6.5?

Many thanks in advance.

DayNotez has been tested with Windows Mobile 6.5 and should work just fine. Can you please provide the details of the exception message?

Thanks Richard.
As soon as the installation has finished up pops a warning message "An unhandled exception occurred and the application is shutting down. Show detailed error information".
As soon as you click on Yes another window pops up with the message "Exception Message: Exception".

That's it Richard.
Nothing further is given.

See if there is a DnzLog.txt file in the "\My Documents\Natara\DayNotez" folder on the HD2. It might have more details about the exception. It is also possible that the Natara Updater which runs first to verify the installation is generating the exception. In that case, look for a "\Program Files\Natara\UpdaterLog.txt". Reply with the contents of the txt file(s).
You might try running DayNotez directly by launching "\Program Files\Natara\DayNotez\DayNotezPPC" using File Manager (or on your storage card if you selected it during the installation). If Updater is the one causing the exception, this will skip over the Updater part and run DayNotez directly.

Richard,
I have checked the DnzLog.txt and the only information given is:-
Exception = System.Exception
Message = Exception
FullText = System.Exception: Exception at Microsoft.AGL.Common.MISC.HandlerAr()at System.Windows.Forms.MonthCalendar._SetInfo()

Reference "\Program Files\Natara\UpdaterLog.txt"
That file does appear to be installed??

I also tried running DayNotez directly from within File Explorer but received the same warning message.

I am having the same problem. Is there any progress in finding a solution?

<br /><br /><br />No Axiixa. I have not heard anything further from Richard or anyone else.
The problem still persists.
Trouble now is though, because I did not receive a solution I have not loaded the software for a long while and would now think my Trial is over.

So I'm in a bit of a 'catch-22' situation.
Even if a solution was now found I now probably would not be able to load the software to try it out. :)

Sorry for the delay in resolving this issue. It appears that HTC (the company that makes the HD2 phone) has removed the native calendar control that DayNotez uses as referenced in this forum message. Since I do not have a HD2 phone to test with, I am at a disadvantage in resolving this issue. Assuming that the calendar control is no longer supported, I have updated DayNotez to use a different calendar control which should eliminate the problem. Hopefully HTC did not make other native control changes besides the calendar control.
Please install the following 1.5.3 beta and let me know if this update works on the HD2 phone. The only change to this beta is to resolve the HD2 incompatibility.
Download links:
PC Setup: http://www.natara.co...zPPC15Setup.exe
CAB File: http://www.natara.co...PPC15.ARMV4.CAB

If your evaluation period has expired, please use the follow evaluation number to extend your DayNotez trial until Feb 5 (enter in the Menu/Tools/Register menu on the phone): 556-w683-8m92-wm9m-a268-13p3

Richard, will download and give it a try. Many thanks. I will report back.

EDIT: Installed the .CAB file and it loaded right up! Seems OK. If I find anything else I will report back. Otherwise, my sincere thanks!

Best regards,
Steve

Hi Richard,
Pleased you got back... was beginning to wonder where you had got to.

Anyway ~ Downloaded & Installed the .CAB file on the HTC HD2.
Happy to report it loads correctly and no Exception Error message to report of.

Like Steve above mentions, I will continue to test the program out and report any findings here.

Once again my sincere thanks
Mike

EDITED:
I have just read the link you mentioned from the xda-developers site Richard.
In case you don't already know this; HTC are working on a ROM release (soon to be implemented) that addresses the errors found on the Calendar.
It will be interesting to see how the new ROM release effects this updated DayNotez.
As I am an active member of that Forum I'ill keep an eye on this.

Mike

:)
Thanks for the fix!

I just tried installing on my new TP-2 and ran into the problem.

You guys are great.
I've been using Natara products (Bonsai and DayNotez) for 10 years.
I have DNZ entries back to 2000.

One of these days, these products probably won't follow me to some new platform and I'll have to search for something else.
Glad it's not today.
