Do the OTL files have any sort of upgrade or can they still be used from v4?
Thanks,
Tony

Yes. The procedure is described in the documentation. We considered adding an installer for USB drives but that will not be in the initial v5 release.

No. If you evaluate the v5 software, you can revert back to the v4 software and it will be able to open your outline files.

Now that I've tried to install it I think this means that you can't install to a USB drive without first installing to the desktop? Can't we just get a 'zip' file to unpack on the USB drive?
Thanks,
Tony

Currently, yes, you need to install to the desktop first. It is on my list of things to do (either zip file or an installer).

There is a zip version here.
This is really intended for the U3 users, but the file is a normal zip file and you can extract the Bonsai.exe and BonsaiSync.dll and other related files you need for the USB installation. Complete details about USB drive installation can be found in the user manual. I see this page of the manual has not been updated to also include the BonsaiSync.dll. While this file is optional, you will need it on the USB drive if you plan to synchronize outline files (i.e. useful if you have a Desktop installation with copies of the outline files on the local drive as well as the USB drive).
I still plan a setup to help automate the USB installation but until then please use this "zip" file if you do not have a desktop installation of Bonsai.

The manual page also refers to a chm file which doesn't seem to be in the zip file.
If you are planning to move to a web based manual could you PLEASE include an offline version as a large part of my bonsai time is on train journeys with no internet.
Apart from that the zip seems fine but my license doesn't work so I've just replied to the license email!
Thanks,
Tony

The chm file is only in the setup; I did not include it in the U3 version to keep the size of the download small. You can download the pdf version here. I plan to make the chm file an option for the future USB setup.
Did you get the registration issue resolved? I do not remember seeing your email. With Bonsai v5, in the registration dialog when the "Desktop Only Registration" user is selected, you can enter your HotSync name in the email address field and the registration number to register the U3/USB version of Bonsai.

A PDF with hyperlinked TOC and search capability is actually all I'd want, it's also half the size. I'd suggest that bonsai searches for both the PDF and CHM when you ask for help. I'd also suggest that you do this at startup and change the menu item to 'Bonsai online help...' if it doesn't detect either.

I have just received your emails and you've also updated MyNatara so I'm all set. No problems upgrading.
Thanks,
Tony
