I posted my thoughts about Bonsai for iPhone here - http://www.natarasoftware.com/forums/index...ost&p=25662 and hope to get a feedback from other Bonsai users and Natara.

I think that Bonsai is a superb application both for personal and business needs and can't understand why Natara totally ignores iPhone market. I'm sure that this market has a huge financial potential for the company but still we don't have Bonsai for iPhone. Why?

I switched to iPhone, too. Now I´m desperately searching for an alternative for Bonsai - but there is none with the same power. Why do you give up on such a big market and a hardware, that could do so much more than the palm?

The software development platform for iPhone is far inferior. I will give you one example. Go check out those two once famous software on PalmOS: Isilo and Agendus. Check out how they fair on iPhoneOS.

I really like Bonsai desktop. And I wish there was an iPhone version.
I've had to move to SplashNotes to get iPhone and Windows sync.
The Windows version of SplashNotes is not as full featured as Bonsai.
But, it's new and will likely keep improving.

I use Bonsai Desktop w/ Carbon Fin outliner on the iPhone platform. You can export the Bonsai in opml format and import that into the Carbon Fin 'system' and vise versa. It's kind of a pain to keep the two sync'd with the whole import/export thing but it works. The Carbon Fin program is pretty nice, and the online element is a cool feature.

Now, if Bonsai 5 could sync opml files like it now can with .OTL etc, it would be ideal until Natara decides to develop for iPhone. I can't imagine it would be THAT much more difficult to implement...

Perhaps if we keep asking.

I would say that if Natara is not going to pursue an iPhone App in the near future, it might be a good "stop-gap" to at least provide a sync to CarbonFin's on-line outlines. In this way, we can still at least have our Bonsai Desktop app that we all love, and the Carbonfin outlines on-line would sync to their iPhone app (which is at least an opml outliner with some of the features of Bonsai). Any thoughts?

I have switched from Palm to iPhone. I continue to use Bonsai desktop on Windows - wish I could sync to my iPhone.

I've switched to an iTouch too, and have given up on my dozens of Bonsai outlines since I don't have a sync method. I'll have to check out carbon fin.

I am a big big Bonsai fan. Would love to see a local mobile/web sync capable device for Bonsai: where I can access/update my data locally (without connectivity when necessary) as well as on the web.

I have searched and searched, and just stumbled over http://notespark.com for the iPhone. It ain't Bonsai, but it may be the closest thing to what I want that is available right now. It has caused me to put the iPhone at the top of my list of next mobile devices (my current cell contract runs out in 4/2010).

Just to reiterate - notespark is not an outlining tool, but a way to locally store and sync memo content to the web.

I was hoping the vendor was looking to provide the tool on other platforms (Android/WebOS) but he says he has no plans for that right now :(

Here's my situation:

I have an aging Palm Zire72 with a battery that needs replacing soon... not sure if I'll find one or not.

Development for the device has totally ended, it's a dead product if ever there was one.

I've recently upgraded to Vista64 (about to upgrade to Windows 7 64) and surprise-surprise USB Synchronization is NOT supported with 64 bit operating systems. I am therefore stuck syncing my Palm only with my work computer (still using XP) and with my netbook (also running XP)... so for isntance if I needed to pull up an address right now, I'd either have to go fetch my palm in the living room, or boot up the netbook. Awesome! (NOT)

I use bonsai for GTD. A few key outlines feed todos tied to contexts as categories... it's a beautiful thing. Your desktop app is phenomenal. Your pda app is phenomenal. and yet I'm like Captain Hook and hear the clock ticking closer and closer to me.

I have an ipod touch that I'd love to switch over to but you and the maker of handyshopper won't get off your freggin' asses and get something done. it's as if you've decided to watch your business sink... I totally fail to see what the long term strategy of a company that is marketing software for Palm and Windows Mobile could possibly be.

Someone has already given you a very strong suggestion that to be perfectly honest ... you better be already a year in the making on... otherwise I have no idea what exactly you plan on doing with your business.

I can't sit around and wait for the Palm to die. At this point it looks like I'll either have to start looking more strongly in the direction of a web-based solution, or if that fails I'll probably see if I can really make a paper-based "hipster pda" solution work.

For what it's worth I'm also a daynotes registered user and I dread the day that I will no longer be able to use that either... already obviously no sync to my new PC. Someone at Palm really needs to be hung by their balls. Just saying.

One more vote for Opml sync with Carbon Fin..at least I could still use Natara Bonsai on my desktop...

Another vote for Bonsai for Iphone/IPod Touch. I have been using Bonsai and Daynotez forever and was sure when I visited here today that I would find an IPhone version. Too bad. I am not updating to version 5.

I'm also switching from Palm to iPod. I've purchased MLO as an alternative for Bonsai; they are working on a full flex iPhone-version.

I have used Bonsai for many years, first on Palm and desktop, and lately just on the desktop, since I stopped using my Palm. Now I have an iPhone and would love to have Bonsai on the iPhone.

While using my old Sony Clio, I enjoyed and used a lot for medical purposes Bonsai. Now i'm moving to IPhone and, as stated by many users, there is not a similar application. Again, the world of MAC users is growing. Infact i too, after 25yrs, moved to Mac... and can't use Bonsai. SO.. what Natura should have to do? create Bonsai for MAC, and App for I-Phone-Pad-Pod... how many money will Natara get?

I don't have an iPhone, but 2Do looks like a pretty good alternative: http://www.2doapp.co...o/features.html
Have a look at some of the reviews.

If this works with an iPod Touch synching with Outlook over WiFi, then this will be my solution when my company switches to Win7 and I lose the ability to synch my Palm.

Of course... if Bonsai was available on a platform like iPod touch or Android and could synch directly with my work PC, then that would be my first choice....

I have been able to successfully upload a bonsai Outline to CarbonFin using the OPML template they provide and then have it show up on my iphone. It is just the bare outline text and structure, none of the great categories, dates of other functions that Bonsai provides.

A new option I am looking at is Lifebalance. They do have a desktop and an iphone app. Bonsai and Palm were always a superior combinaation to them, but without a fully functioning iphone Bonsai app I'm looking if I should change. Cost for change is high.

Bonsai was a great program but regretfully it died out together with the PalmOS. Yes, the desktop version can still be run but it does not sync with modern devices like the iPhone or Blackberry. The desktop works only on Windows, the interface feels outdated and cannot sync with an online account...

Bye bye Bonsai, it is time to look elsewhere! I am switching to ToodleDo which has some time-and-task management capabilities, has an iPhone application, syncs with several second-party applications (for multiple devices) and on Windows with a desktop client called TaskAngel. The free version of ToodleDo does not support subtasks although it has folders and tags.

The other option, MyLifeOrganized, is expensive and the iPhone version is still under development. I will probably purchase it when it's ready. Now it's time to uninstall Bonsai...

I'm another one who used Bonsai on Palm TX & have migrated to iPhone two years ago. I used to use Daynotez (LOVED IT) but now use Evernote as a journaling program. I didn't use Bonsai all that often, but when I needed it, I needed it. Each time I now need it, I check to see if there's an iPhone version. I've used the Carbonfin idea suggested above, in this thread (THANK YOU mjrtoo!) several times for "light" project management that I want to also be able to access from my phone. For very detailed projects (normally work related), I still stick with MS Project b/c I normally don't need to access that info from my iPhone. But I'm now needing a very detailed project management app that I can use on my desktop & phone for a personal situation (buying a new home & selling our old one.) And I'm really missing Bonsai, yet again.
