I'm seeing a few items like this:

All the children have been checked off but the parent still persists.

Expanded version:

This just started happening recently. Any ideas on this?

Thanks.

Go to menu item "View->Global Settings".

General Tab:

Make sure "Show Simple items when filtering on status" is not checked.

OR, make your parents tasks or to-dos.

Boy, is my face red. That was it: I had enabled 'show simple items when filtering' for something I was trying in another outline.

Thanks.
