Any clue why every time I sync, my category icons point to different icons?
I change nothing on the desktop. Everytime after I sync, I have to fix/change the icons back to the ones I normally use on my Palm, then when I sync, they get changed again.

What could be the problem?

I'm using 4.2.7 on Palm Treo 680

The way Bonsai works with icons:

Bonsai desktop looks in the current users Palm backup folder to find the icon file being used.
It uses that file and indexes each icon.
Each category, keyword, etc references an icon based on the icon index #. The same icon index number should remain the same unless you change it.

If, for some reason, a different icon file is on the handheld than what is in the backup folder on the desktop, the the reference to the icons may be different. So, if your category says to use icon #25 and the icon stored in slot #25 in the desktop icon file is different than the one stored on your device, you'll get different icons showing on each side.

SO... then when you go and "fix" the desktop side to match the handheld side, you are really just changing that icon index number. The icons will match until you sync. If you made the change on the handheld side, then the desktop side will not be right the next time you sync and visa-versa.

Try doing this:

Find the icon file on the desktop in your backup folder. "MOVE" to to somewhere else so that when the next hotsync occurs HotSync's backup will make a new copy of the icon file. That file should match the one on your handheld and the indexes/id of the icons should be the same.

If that doesn't work, you may want to forward your icon file to us. There have been cases where the icon file itself is messed up with duplicate icon IDs, etc. and the handheld side references a different icon in that case than the desktop does.

ok - so I moved the icon file on the desktop and re-synced - but that did not help.
I ran Bonsai on the desktop, and noticed that the icons on my Treo was always changing to that (even if I change the icons on the Treo before I sync). So, I tried changing the icons on the Desktop and then syncing. That fixed it. Weird. Shouldn't changing it on the Treo update the desktop?

I've attached the icons file (change the name from "Icons-DATEBK5_PRC.txt" to Icons-DATEBK5.PRC")

The are correct that the desktop settings should not overwrite the handheld category settings. I was able to reproduce this issue and wrote a defect report about this. We will resolve this in a future release. Until then, you will need to make all category changes on the PC.
