After some delay, we’ve managed to get our forums back online. We are now using new forum software and have relocated it to a new host. We have converted as much of the old forums over as we could, but there are some things which either didn’t get migrated or just need to be reconfigured by our users.

Things to know:

  • You can log in using your old username. (If you are new to the forums, please register as a new user)
  • You will first need to have your password resent. Then you can log in and re-set the password to whatever you want.
  • Avatars did not migrate. You will need to pick or upload a new avatar if you want one.
  • Signatures. Same as Avatars. You’ll need to redo it.
  • Make sure you set an appropriate TimeZone
  • “Subscriptions” do work with this board. If you want to subscribe to a particular thread or category, you’ll have to set up a new subscription.
  • This board supports RSS feeds, but I have yet to enable that feature. We will sometime in the future.
  • This board supports “Skins”. I currently only have 2 loaded. You can choose the skin you want at the very bottom of the page in the dropdown (bottom left).
  • Once logged in, use the “My Controls” to set up much of this.
  • Some older posts that have links, in particular where maybe one of the Natara staff posted a link reference to another post on the forum, may be invalid links now. We will have to manually update those, so it may be on an “As needed” basis.
  • Old “user ranks” are not in place. Not sure if we’ll re-assign those or not.
  • We are still “tweaking”… so there will be other changes.

To set up your Time Zone / Change your Password:

Click the "My Controls" button at the top
Go to the "Options" panel on the left and click the "Board Settings" link.
Set up Time Zone and DST from there.

Go to the "Options" panel on the left and click the "Change Password" link.
Change password.

Not sure if it was intentional or not, but the RSS feeds have been active for some time and I have thoroughly enjoyed having posts pushed my way.

I currently have subscribed to feeds for DayNotez, Bonsai, and a general feed (Natara User Forums) that includes posts from all forums. I would like to drop the individual forum feeds and just use the overall feed, but it is difficult to tell which forum the posting is coming from in the combined feed without opening the link. Is it possible to have the forum name added to the feed so it is easier to scan for relevant posts?

Not that I'm aware of. I'll look and see, but there isn't much in the way of configuring how the RSS feeds work. Personally, I wish the feeds would include the text of the new posts themselves and not just the initial post each time a response is made.

I can't figure out why I have to log in each time. In this new forum, I always appear as Guest. Then I have to log in with username and password. I've checked the box that says Remember Me, thinking my name and password will be stored.
Under the old forum, I didn't have to log in each time. Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not having that issue at all, but I DO have that issue on another site's forum how uses an older version of IPBoards. Strange.

The board does rely on cookies, so make sure that cookies are enabled for this site (www.natarasoftware.com ... which is different than the old www.natara.com). Another thing to try is if you scroll down towards the bottom of the page on the front page of the forum (after you log in) there is a text link that says "Reset all cookies for this forum" (or something similar to that). You might want to give that a try also to see if it clears up anything.

I think that the "remember my password" really only auto-populates the user and password fields when you go to that screen and doesn't auto-log you in. For that I think a cookie is set with an expiration and as long as you return to the forums within so many days it should just auto-log you in.
