On page 97 of the Bonsai manual, there is a discussion of external resources:
"Bonsai recognizes the following types of external resources.
...
· outlook:
...
but there is no information on what should follow "outlook:"
is it the "outbind" stuff? is so, is there an easy way to capture this so it can be cut and pasted into Bonsai?

No, it is really outlook:
Doing a quick Google search, I found this message that does a decent job explaining it:

Yes, that article explained it, but the program that the article mentions you should use to determine the GUID for an Outlook item is Linker for Windows, put out by TeamScope. Apparently Linker requires Microsoft Exchange Server. I say, "apparently," because I've sometimes seen it listed as a requirement and sometimes not. I don't use Exchange Server (I'm just a single user with a laptop) but I downloaded Linker and installed it on my computer anyway. Its icon, which is supposed to appear on my taskbar, doesn't appear. Despite my repeatedly trying to contact TeamScope via phone, e-mail and webform (on their website) for help, they don't even have the courtesy to respond by saying, "We got your message, but we're busy, and we'll get back to you."
Does anybody know another method for determining the GUID for any given outlook item to use in an external link that Bonsai can recognize?

I don't know of any other tools at the moment, but looking at TeamScopes web page, I don't think that there is any requirement to HAVE Exchange Server. It's just if you USE exchange server instead of "stand alone Outlook", those are the requirements for your Exchange server (which pretty much just says it support all Exchange Servers). I've never heard anyone say they couldn't use it with Outlook w/o Exchange.

You might be right. If you're are, though, I still have the problem that their program simply isn't working. I installed Linker on my Lenovo laptop, running Windows XP Pro, and while it appeared to install without problems, the Add/Remove Programs section of the Control Panel says it's installed, and I can access its limited help file, its icon doesn't appear on the taskbar so I can't access the program.
This is, of course, not a Natara issue, but rather a TeamScope one. Unfortunately though, as I mentioned, their "customer service" has been, essentially, non-existent.
