I've put together a very quick teaser for Bonsai Windows Mobile edition. See It Here.
As I mention in the video, it's getting closer to where you can try it out, but "not quite yet", (so don't bother asking....we'll let you know i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif )

Even though the last thing in the world I want to go through is a conversion from Palm to PPC, this does look very nice. Now I want one of those % sliders for the palm side.

thanks!
the teaser looks already great and I am hoping to replace my old palm handheld with a newer windows mobile based device soon without "loosing" bonsai.
best regards
frantisek

I did not know about the slider for project status on the palm. Excellent.
Thanks,

Ooh - Looks interesting!
My refurbished T3 is getting a bit decrepit and, having read all the bad stuff about the power buttons and digitisers on the TX et al, I guess I'm going to have to think about whether I switch to a bloated PPC. Bonsai-PPC would make that decision easier.
So tell me; is the prolonged 'wait' icon when opening an outline a function of the PPC operating system, or is it just that things like outline load times haven't yet been optimised in the pre-alpha Bonsai? An outline access delay would be difficult to get used to after my instant access T3.
Cheers, and keep up the good work,
Stéph

The load time delay is a combination of the fact that we use the .NET Compact Framework (which does not always results in the speediest of apps) and that we have not done a lot of optimization. One difference between the WM and Palm is the data format. On the WM, we will be using the same XML OTL file format as used on the PC. The palm stores the outline in a database. Therefore, the WM app needs to parse the entire XML file whereas the Palm app is able to read just the records of interest. Second, the WM app has a scroll bar which the Palm does not have. In order to size the scroll bar properly, the app needs to calculate the size of each row which is based on the word-wrapped size of the item text. This too takes time to calculate which the Palm app does not need to do. I am sure there are many areas in which the current version could be optimized (I already have several ideas in mind) so I would expect load times to improve, but not to the speed at which you would be accustomed to compared to the Palm app.

Thanks for that honest and detailed reply, Richard. That renews my confidence in the 'Zen of Palm' and reminds me why I've chosen Palm so far.
I wish you success with Bonsai-PPC for all those Windows users out there, but I aim to stick with Palm OS as long as I can.
What a shame Palmone don't have faith in the benefits of their nice, simple OS. It'll be interesting to see if the future, Linux-based Palm OS is quick-and-simple or ends up bloated too.

Stéph

I was hoping to see a demo of linking between Bonsai and Outlook Mobile. Is that going to work the same as on the Palm platform?
