I have a GTD-type outline setup that uses text keywords at the beginning of each item in my outline to denote context. I use the text string so that I can setup similar filters on context in datebk6. I want to set up a filter that will show me all incomplete items and the children of any task starting with "Project:". I can set up this filter, but underneath each parent item of "project" - some children are completed. I want to see only incomplete children.

An alternative way to set this same filter up is to make my filter do the reverse and show me all items with "S/M" and reverse the filter. This excludes the S/M items and shows only projects. Again, I get a mix of completed and incompleted.

Any ideas how I can make this work?

I am thinking my only option is to tag all my projects with an actual keyword of project and setup my outline to inherit that keyword on all children, then create a filter that find the keyword and only show incompleted items. Before I spend time doing that on several hundred items (I know I can do this en masse, but I thought I'd see if there was an easier way), does anyone know a smarter way to handle this?

If only it were possible to set a global option to not include completed items similar to the global options to color completed items and the global option to sort undated items to the end...

I work around by setting color for completed items to a very light shade of gray and setting the sort on completed items so they go to the bottom of the list. Of course, this burns one of my two sort options which makes me sad, but ...
