Thank you Bonsai (George & Bryan & ???) and StuGib
I want to start out by saying that the following would not be possible if it were not for the brilliant work done creating and sustaining
Bonsai. Also a nod to StuGib for opening the door to a post like this.

The Implementation - Simpler yet more Complex
This implementation is based on a different philosophy of using an outline. One of the best things about this is that it allows for a lot
more flexibility by making the usage of the outline very simple. This allows you to add your own complexity. The surprising thing is
that it hardly depends on Keywords and/or Categories for GTD Use. Another distinguishing feature is that it uses 2 Outlines instead
of one. One of the things that makes this system possible is the addition of a feature to the 4.1 version of Bonsai (the addition of the
zoom to the left and right buttons).

Show me the Screenshots!
Okay everyone wants to see pics! I will not do a very good job explaining this system without them. I must let you know that as
determined as I am I am also lazy so I will throw up a snapshot of the screen with text and expect questions for anything I may
have left out. Given the flexibility of the system it is definitely open to personal custimization and I welcome those as well. So
here is the first snapshot

The Outline/List

The look and views
Most of what I can say about this is written directly on the image. The beauty of this system is that it is not limited to how it looks
on the desktop. I think it acually works better on the palm. If you are familiar with how you are able to Zoom in on the context menu
of the ipod you will have a similar navigation on your palm. The left and right nav buttons on the 5 way navigator allow you "filter"
your view of your tasks. Given you are using the hierarchy for contexts you can use the categories for what Stu was using his topic
headers for and easilly sort all family tasks. Priorty can still be used for priority. Keywords don't even have to be used but you can use
them along with categories to create complex filters or simply use them to hide parts of the list when using filters with a "don't include
any of these keywords." option.

The challenge with Next actions is how do you keep them all together when some are in projects and some are not. I simply used a
name convention for action items and filter by text with a flat filter. I believe you could include the headers or not when you filter.

The Calendar

Why another outline? A calendar in GTD is a separate item anyway and there are a lot of options for manipulating this information
in an outliner. I can get a landscape that is not so "hard" in terms of the views. I want to throw in anything time related in here that
inlcudes a tickler file. Again the Zoom interface allows you to time shift into the next couple of months with the tickler type hierarchy I
have. The cool thing is you can link this to your Palm calendar and use that to view events and add alarms.

Overall

GTD is just not the same without the right tool. You know what they say about having the right tool for the right job. This implementation
has the kind of freedom to allow you to use Bonsai as a trusted system for managing next actions and timed events. I have even more
ideas about using Bonsai and find these forums a useful resource. I hope my contribution adds to its usefulness.

Very nice idea. Do you have any way of linking projects to actions?

I may have not been very detailed about the naming convention so here is how it would work.
I had been playing with having the parent displayed so that is why I had the C- and C/ structure
In this example since it is a flat filter that doesn't matter but it can be tweaked to show all context parents
and their children. This filter would probably be called "All Actions" to indicate that it includes project actions.

I love your way of setting up GTD in Bonsai. It's working out for me very well. I just have one question about your screenshots

How did you get the "count" to display? I can't find it for the life of me. Is this just the custom field (originally called cost) renamed and reused? Or is there an actual way to get the count to show up.

It is the custom field renamed. You can then determine the options for it under Outline Preferences under the
calculated tab.

Thanks to the wonderful Bonsai program you can get a count of how many are inccomplete, how many
are complete, or an average in percentage complete/incomplete.

I have changed the name of this custom list from "count" to "left" in my new system as in left to do.
It counts the number of incomplete items left to do.

Thank you for your question. I am glad to hear it is working for you. I have tweaked my system some more and now it
is even better. I am working on writing out a detailed explanation and will post about it soon.

It is even simpler yet more flexible.

Thank you for you interest. I have been very busy on some recent projects
including an actual blog and not just a makeshift one here.

I have winded up tweaking the GTD System even more and it's amazing how the simpler it gets the more it offers.
It has I believed reached its final version. Now if only I could get those Top 10 Bonsai Enhancements/
Pet peeves put in.

I wasnt't sure if people actually looked at this but your reply is encouraging to say the least.
You know, if a Bonsai Forum member posts and no one replies not even George does it exist?

I'm thinking of a pretty significant date to share this and I think the best time would be
this Sunday. The Chinese New Year! Stay tuned or just subscribe.

However, just because today is Valentine's day and someone actually
responded to this blog. I will provide you with a link to one of the projects that has been keeping
me busy of late. It is the only kind of site a palm lover could
create so remember that & forgive any gasps you may have when you see it.
I hope this to be a wake up call to the powers that be.

Happy Chinese New Year

Here is the long awaited (by some) brand new GTD Bonsai Implementation!

As you maybe able to tell I like attention. I created this makeshift blog and made a few (several)
suggestions and innovative hacks (like getting Bonsai on the ipod) in my attempts at it. I even
profiled what I think to be the first ever Youtube video of Bonsai in action.

So it may come as no surprise to you that for this milestone I am looking to
take it to the next level. However, I do so with some merit I believe and here's why:

1) This new implementation of GTD Bonsai is not just going to be written about
with a few screenshots and a posted explanation. It will be detailed inside of an actual
Bonsai Outline. You will have the basic structure of the actual outline
with explanations directly inside the items! Now I don't believe I could include
it with filters and views but I do explain the core ones in this outline.

2) I have created a blog called PalmOrganized.com and I would like an audience not
unlike the one I have here given my page views so you would do me a great honor
by visiting my blog. I know I should trust that you will do so but just in case you are apt
to lurk (and who isn't ) this outline and a beginning description of the system are available on
my blog.

3) Please bear in mind I am not charging anything for this even thogh I spent countless
hours working on it. Anyone who has read my posts can tell I probably have computer screen eye strain.
No, what I am looking for is the fun interaction and expression of ideas of a like minded
community that makes efforts like this actually count for something other than wishful
thinking. So if you have ever seen Peter Pan this is your opportunity to make my blog
alive with the symbolic claps that are your comments represents.

4) If you are into GTD you will definitely want to leave a comment because my next innovation
is in the can and will blow you away and only those that I can email using the info
from my comments will be the first to know. I even have a Web site in the works
for this grand occasion.

So again lurkers and non lurkerrs (I appreciate you all) if I have riled you enough
for the better or for the worse feel free to leave your approbations or recriminations
here in replies or there at PalmOrganized.com in the form of comments. And If you
ask me though I prefer the approbations and mostly if they are deserved although...

Thank you.

The response has been very encouraging.

Thank you to Anthony, Aaron, Keith, and emkay for your encouraging
words. Feel free to share how useful a solution this is but just don't go too much
into detail the Government is watching. Besides others deserve to go to the site just like you did
to get the outline with all the specifics and help create a commnity of
Bonsai GTD Productivity Masters.

New innovations are being developed from standing on the shoulders of
the original innovations. We all owe George and Bryan a big round of
applause (even if they don't implement all my feature suggestions yesterday
and give me discount pricing on their product so I can promote it on my blog)
for all the work they have done to make some of these innovations even possible.
I hope they get a chance to visit my blog and give some credibility to my quirky little efforts
both here and abroad. Hopefully? Who knows.

Besides acknowledging you guys for posting on my blog and
George and Bryan I have some other news. Straight from Area 51 I have just discovered
some new technology to allow Bonsai to send text message reminders from the calendar
items in the new GTD Outline. This is no weather balloon either and you don't need a treo.
I have to thank my friends the Lone Gunmen for coming up with this. I could not do this all myself.
This is truly light years beyond what I think could be possible.

I will again write this up for distribution but instead of putting the info here I will send this
out to users who by commenting on my blog allow me to update them by email on new developments.
You brave bunch will be part of a community that will be on the leading edge of GTD & Bonsai Users.

The government doesn't want you know what is actually possible so we need for create
a collaborative network to support each other.

If you are reading this and have not stopped by yet come on over I'll leave the space ship light
on for you.

There is a new post on the blog about using the desktop and effective Zooming.

I love these forums and will continue to participate in them with regards to reading
user posts and contributions and participating in answering questions but will defer
most of my posting or any new ideas for this system on palmorganized.com. It is easer
to manage as a blog.

If there are any questions here I will also respond to them.

Thank you.

PalmOrganized.com

Hard work pays off. And I am sure those experienced enough will tell you that
it only leads to more hard work but then again maybe the payoff is bigger...maybe.

The blog like a early generation makeshift plane has been pushed of the cliff and
is actually flying maybe even soaring. I thank thos of you who are reading this now
for making this possible because yoiu have either already visited the site & contributed to it or if you
haven't you may just choose to check it out after reading this. If not, at the very
least you have added to my topic views total on this forum.

I am learning a lot about blogging in the meantime. The whole process is like trying
to start a fire from a spark and fanning the flame while protecting it from any gush
of wind. You shelter it and add elememts that will cause the fire to spread. It is very
important in the beginning because after you reach a certain momentum it starts
to run under its own steam.

Congratualations to all the Oscar Winners. What a Cinderella story for Jennifer Hudson,
Alan Arkin, and Forrest Whitaker. These guys come from various levels of experience
and were likely to not even think they could win especially Alan Arkin.

I myself could not imagine the little blog success that could result from doing work
you love for no monetary gain. Ever since the blog launched there has not been one
day when I have not received a comment. Now I know I offer a carrot but still...
I have also been able to help double the number of visitors to a fellow bloggers site
I admire. His is the first link in my links category.

I have also received favorable impresstions from the powers that be here at Natara
which is gratifying because I am certain there are more people checking Bonsai
out as the result of my blog. However not only my blog but the article at Palmaddicts.com
written by Garfield.

So if you haven't gone to Palm Organized you owe it to yourself to check it out.
Bonsai is heavily featured even though my intention is to write about Palm Programs and organization in general.

Best Wishes

Fox.
