I am considering to use Priority field for differentiating items based on Energy Required. Anyone have experience doing so? Are you happy with it? How does it work for you?

I envision it like this:
- Priority 1: full concentration required with no distractions
- Priority 3: normal mid-sized task that can be done most of the time in the right context
- Priority 4: non-blocker, really short task that can be done almost anytime in the right context -- reserved for short breaks you have during the day (like few minutes between meetings, or what you can do within 2 minutes practicing 5*(10+2) pattern etc)
- Priority 5: non-blocker task taking minimum energy, normally can be deferred indefinitely; left for Totally-Exhausted contexts, still with a notebook or PDA :-)
- No Priority: groups / parent items / projects.

Filters may be like this:
- Concentration: priority 1 only
- (context X): priority 1..3, specific context
- Short Break: priority 4
- Exhausted: priority 5

Any experiences with a similar approach?

Never done this but.....

Wouldn't it be better to use the "Custom" field for this? That's leaves available the priority field which may still be applicable in this case, and allows you to Label the field as "Energy"...plus gives you 0 to xxxx as far as options instead of the limited priority count. Just a thought.

Wouldn't it be better to use the "Custom" field for this?

Is there any way to filter basing on value of Custom field?

Sorry. Didn't think about that as a criteria. i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif
