We have started open beta testing of our newest product, Quanto, here in the forums. Since the Quanto section is way at the end of the forum sections, I want to make sure you all were aware of it being hidden down there beyond the fold. So scroll down and have a look.
Oh, what is Quanto? Well, its a simple "tool" for tracking/measuring your time and where it all goes. It isn't intended to be yet another tool for tracking "hours spent on project XYZ so that I can turn in my time or bill my client". No, it's a tool for personal use. In order to better manage your time, you first need to know what your time is being spent on. Do you spend too much time surfing the web? Do you spend enough quality time with the kids? How much sleep are you getting? Is it enough?
Standard Project/time tracking tools have a start and a stop time for individual items. Quanto, on the other hand, is works like "time"does. "Time" never stops. You can't "Stop" time. You just end one thing and start another. "Time keeps on tick'n, into the future..." as one famous song puts it.
We don't anticipate Quanto to be something you will use everyday. We think it's a tool that you'll pull our of your productivity bag of tricks every now and again to measure how well you are spending time over a matter of days. It's a reality check of sorts if done right, and a way for you to adjust your habits and behaviors to be more productive and have a better quality of life overall. You've got to understand your time in order to better manage it, and that's what we hope Quanto will help you do.
Currently, Quanto is available as a Palm OS application. We do have intentions of eventually bringing it to other platforms, including Pocket PC, desktop and maybe even web where you can really do some good analysis of your time.
