My Apologies for the previous thread, I deleted it.
Here is what I know, ... if the Categories are not teh same in Bonsai and Datebook5, then the categories get "lost" when you HotSync (the second time)
So, now everytime I create a new Category (which I do a lot now as I learn about this stuff), I have to open up "TASKS" and using the tiny little keyboard, replicate the category exactly.
I'm thinking, "No way do I have to do it that way"... but I dont' see an alternative.
Am I missing something?

Hi Daryn,
I haven't had this but I'll take a guess at what's happening. You might also want to post bug reports in the Bonsai Palm/Desktop forum instead - I think you're more likely to get a response there than in Community Discussions which tend to mostly be just us users i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif
If I'm understanding you correctly, it's the Palm todo categories that get deleted (i.e. from Datebk5/the Palm Tasks application) rather than Bonsai categories in the outline?
If so, I think I've seen the standard Palm conduit delete categories when there's no items of that category, which can be a bit annoying! I'd also check your Todo/Tasks conduit is set to sync rather than 'desktop overwrites handheld' or vice-versa.
If you mean the Bonsai categories get deleted, I haven't got a clue! i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

I'll post it in the other forum too
Here is sequence1
- Create a line item
- make it 'todo' and link it
- edit categories, create a brand new category
- assign it to the item
- HotSync one time
- HotSync a second time,
- now look at the item, its category says "unfiled"
Here is sequence2
- Create a line item
- make it 'todo' and link it
- edit categories, create a brand new category
- assign it to the item
- OPEN "TODO" AND CREATE AN IDENTICAL CATEGORY
- HotSync one time
- HotSync a second time,
- now look at the item, it has the ASSIGNED CATEGORY.
this works no matter if you create it on the PC or the handheld
so, I suppose this is a bug?

Just closing the loop over here too ( I posted in the Palm Desktpo forum)
I read in another post that this idea of having to create an identical category in ToDo/Datebook as in Bonsai is a known thing.
someone else referred to a procedure and mentioned you have to do it.
so, at least its not a mistake I'm making
thanks
