Last year I sold three of the four properties I rehabilitated with one still to sell. Currently I use a notebook/journal as a system to manage my sales and rehab efforts, and my sales and rehab efforts are chaotic to say the least. I bought a Outlook addin which connects to a Palm version of the software which is call Avidian Prophet to manage my sales actitivities and I’m doing better on following up on prospects.
With the desire to do 5 to 10 properties next year, I started reading David Allen's book, and decided I needed outlining software to make it work. My first download was listpro, my second was shadowplan, and now bonsai. My new palm T5 arrived last night and I want to make a decision soon. Listpro looks good on the desktop, but poor on the Palm and doesn’t have the capacity to link. Shadow Plan look poor on the desktop, but okay on the palm and had the ability to link. Bonsai look good on the desktop and the Palm and has the ability to link. Thus I have a question on Using Bonsai in a gtd application.
I started out with a hierarchy of folders in ListPro as follows
Not Actionable
Trash
Someday/Maybe
Reference
Actionable
Multistep
Projects
Single Step
Eventually I would have hundreds of lists with tens of thousands of items in these folders. My first step would be to copy this format into Bonsai, but there are no folders in Bonsai, but there are Categories, but no sub categories. It appears that you can’t get into sub division until you reach the outline level. Am I right? How do others handle this? Is my concern about having folders unwarranted?
