I always want to show the notes column on the handheld. I see how to set that option for each outline, but is there any way to set it as a default for all outlines?

OutlineMenu, Preferences, columns tab, check the "save as default for new outlines" box.

Are you talking about the desktop Dave? Does that preference then carry over to the handheld, because I can't see any equivalent setting on the handheld?

Aha. How easy it is to overlook the fine print at the bottom. Yes, it's on the desktop.

I do most of my work on the desktop and it's a tiny bit annoying when I find functions that are only on the handheld, forcing me to do something on the handheld and then sync before I can resume work on the desktop.

For example, I haven't found any place on the desktop to delete an outline. When I was first learning the program, setting up all my outlines for keeping track of tasks, and fine-tuning it based on linking to To-Do's, assigning categories, etc., that was inconvenient. So now tell me there's a place to delete outlines on the desktop. i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif

Outlines can be deleted in the outline manager.

You can open it up, if you haven't already, from the view menu. Then if you right click on an outline title, you'll get a number of options. For instance you can delete the outline altogether, just from the desktop or just the handheld.
