I just posted this tip on another forum and thought I might as well post it here as well.
I visit several different locations for work. Each location has tasks specific to that location. I may not visit a location for up to six months. So here's a tip on how I use Bonsai and DateBK5.
I create an Outlines in Bonsai for each specific location I visit. I also have some common tasks, so I create an outline for those also.
In DateBK5 I create an appointment template for each location I visit. Templates in DateBK5 are stored on the 1st-Jan-2020.
In Bonsai I create a link from each Outline to it's relevant appointment template (remember it's 01-01-2020).
Then I go back to the templates and edit each note to show links to specific outlines. It looks something like this...
See Bonsai...
* General ToDo [BZ11]
* CheckList [BZ6]
* Cameras [BZ10]
Then, let's say I have to visit location X tomorow at 3pm. All I do is use the appropriate template to create the appointment, and with a few taps I have the appointment and links to all relevant Outlines.
When I arrive at location X I don't have to try and remember what tasks have to be performed. I just have a look at the appointment note. This is useful, as I said, if I haven't been to a particular site for six months i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

Hi Niall
The idea of setting up templates that include Bonsai links sounds really useful. From your description, it sounds like your overall intent here is to link to the whole outline, rather than a specific item, so are you actually creating a link to the first item in each relevant outline (since you can only link to items, not outlines)?
Also, how are you getting the BZxx codes? Are you creating to-do links and then using the same code in your note text? Does that work?
This has made me wonder whether you could use BZ codes in DayNotez as well. Must try it out some time.

G'day Neal,
Sorry for the delay in replying to this but I've been away.
That's right. I often have many tasks I need to perform, so I create an outline specifically for each location. I guess I don't need to do it this way. That's just the way I started using it.
Yes, and yes. At first I wasn't sure if the BZxx code would stay the same but it does. The codes have even survived a hard-reset, and the addition of new outlines.
I use these codes in DayNotez (note and keyword) and several other programs and don't have a problem.
Regards,
Niall

Hi Niall
(Niall and Neal -- could be confusing!)
Thanks for the extra information. (Been away myself for the last couple of weeks, hence my delay in replying). This sounds like an excellent trick to use. Much of the way I work is very checklist based, and I'm not always so good at scheduling the time for completing the tasks on a given checklist. This sounds like a good way to combine the two. Thanks for the info.
