Combine Project@hand And Bonsai

Dear,

Is it possible to build a Project@Hand project with the Bonsai outliner data. I already acquired Bonsai (and love it) but I am missing the ability to plan based on constraints. From the documentation I read that Project@Hand is a Project tool and thus has the ability to predict end dates based on constrains. So is it possible to combine the both worlds and if not what are the constraints/possible workarounds?

Thank you in advance.

Project@Hand 2.6.1 RC1

We are going to be releasing Project@Hand 2 MPS v2.6.1 to the public soon. We have some further updates to the config app, the conduit, and the Palm app that we would like to put through a bit of beta testing (hopefully only a few days). The main things that are addressed is for better Vista support. P@H will no longer save its config file into the installation folder but instead save it to the AppData folder. There were also some small cosmetic changes along with a couple of small bug fixes.

Please remember that you should only install the beta if you are familiar with the risks involved in testing such releases. You should also only use the beta files if you already have a full release of P@H 2 MSP already installed on your system since we are only distributing a subset of the full installation. There is no setup file with this beta so simply download the .zip file and unzip it into your current installation folder (overwriting your current files).

Download the file HERE

Here are the notes from the Changelog:

Project@Hand 2 MSP Change log.

version 2.6.1

Config:
--------------

build 123
+ Added context menu to project list which includes
+ Edit
+ Remove
+ Synchronize (directly enable/disable sync status from list)
+ Read Only (directly enable/disable read only status from list)
+ Open containing folder (opens windows explorer to path of project w/ project selected)
+ Launch in Project (attempts to have MS Project open the .mpp file)
+ Updated documentation for new features and supported OS and MSP versions, etc.
+ Edit dialog now centers on application instead of going to upper left of display
+ Changed wording on edit dialog

build 122
+ Cosmetic changes to the general tab layout including © date change
+ New Project Folder defaults to your "Documents" folder and will force that if left blank
+ Moves the config file (and now defaults to) the AppData folder. As such, it no longer
saves the config file in the installation folder
+ Double clicking on the registration portion of the status bar brings up the registration dialog
+ Opens on same tab it closes on

Conduit:
--------------
build 3154
+ Fixed a config file path issue. If conduit was run prior to config, an path without a trailing
backslash was put into "DataPath" in the registry. The ending path was then subsequently removed
when determining the path of the config.xml file so it was being saved one directory higher than
it should have been.

build 2575
+ Moves the config file (and now defaults to) the AppData folder. As such, it no longer
saves the config file in the installation folder
+ Better handles writing to the registry on Vista installations

Handheld
-------------
+ Corrected some crashes that can occur with older Palm OS4 devices
+ Scheduling w/ constraints bug fixed

Syncing Freezes @ Analyzing Project

I have a project which I made significant changes to on my PC.

Now when I attempt to hotsynch the sync freezes at 2% of Analyzing Project.

Also, at times when I sync between two different pc's, on the second pc - palm to pc the hotsync indicates that no changes have been made to the palm project which is not correct.
I'm using hotsynch Manager 6.01
Palm OS Garnet v 5.4.9
Windows XP Service pack 2
MS Project 2003 Standard

I've also tried having the handheld overwrite the PC, also without success. It's very frustrating since this is exactly what this program was intended to do.

And I am using a registered copy.

Thanks for any help

Importing MPP/MPX

I am attempting to use the 'Import' feature in P@H2 running on a Palm TX to bring in an MPP file from a client's MS Project 98 app with no luck. The client has moved from a Windows-based shop to a Mac OSX shop and wanted to recover some project data.

We loaded the MPP into RAM using TealMove and selected the 'Import' feature. After receiving the 'Do you want to scan....' prompt followed by tapping 'Yes', the app returns an info box which says: 'The scan did not find any projects to import.' Thinking that there may be a file format issue, we next loaded an MPX version of the same project and had the same results: no file imported.

I was not able to find any reference to the 'Import' feature in any of your documentation.

My only question is: can one bring in a native MS Project file by this method, or is syncing the only way?

Base line

I've been using Proj@hand for sevral years always been very usefull, now I'm in charge of a PMO and I'm able to always carry workplans from all the projects within the PMO authority and to be able to give answers and ask questions in every moment, but there is something missing and that would be of great help - the base line. even that is possible to show the real start, finish dates and real duration, for me is of great help to be able to graphically get the image and know if a task is ahead or behind schedule.

Another functionality that I consider would be of great use, at least to me, would be been able to have a tracking, a cost and an earn value tables, since thru them it is possible to input real progress and costs data, and get variances, performance indexes and forecasts that I cal assure you every project manager must have at hand every moment.

Hope you consider making this update to this great tool

Bug in task dependencies

Hi,

I found the following scenario does not result in the correct schedule being calculated. Set up 3 tasks:

task1, 2 days long, starting on day 1
task2, 1 day long, starting on day 2
task 3, 1 day long with FS dependency on task 2 and FF[1 day lag] dependency on task 1.

I would expect task 3 to complete on day 3 but Project@hand says it will finish on day 4. Note that MS Project agrees with the day 3 completion.

Is this a known bug? If so, will it be addressed?
